I used Connect in Livescribe Desktop to send a Pencast PDF to Evernote, but when I try to open it as a link in Chrome I get a message to update Acrobat but Adobe Reader is already the latest version.
If you have sent a Pencast PDF to Evernote using Connect in Livescribe Desktop but you cannot open the file as a link because Chrome is your default browser and you are getting the message:
"This document requires the latest version of Acrobat. Go to http://get.adobe.com/reader to update."
…this is because Chrome has its own Adobe Reader plug-in that cannot open the pencast version of PDFs.
Windows users: You can disable this Chrome plug-in so that Adobe Reader opens the Pencast PDF version of the file in the browser. To do this, open another tab/window in Chrome. In the address bar where a URL would normally go, type "about:plugins" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Find "Chrome PDF Viewer" in the list and click the "Disable" link below it. Go back to your Evernote tab/window and click on the paper clip to view the pencast version of the file.
Mac Users: You will need to use Safari to view the pencast version of the file. If you are using Safari and are seeing an error trying to open the Pencast PDF, please see 180011 - When I try opening an Evernote Pencast PDF using my Mac Safari browser I get an error message "Safari quit unexpectedly while using the AdobeZBuffer plug-in."
