I installed Windows Livescribe Desktop on a network that redirects the data folder to a shared drive and multiple users of the same machine are getting a message "Critical error - Livescribe Desktop has encountered a critical error and must shut down."
Windows Livescribe Desktop currently does not support shared network drives (e.g. an "H:\" drive which is a network drive shared by multiple users).
If you have installed the software and the data folder has been redirected to a directory path that does not include the User Name (e.g. "H:\Livescribe" versus "H:\Username\ Livescribe"), multiple users will get critical errors trying to use the software if they share the same computer.
If the user name is in the directory path, when data is transferred to Livescribe Desktop there will be missing notebook pages.
Either way you will need to move the data folder to a local drive by downloading the full installer (85911 - Manually downloading Windows Livescribe Desktop Installer archived Zip file), shutting down access to the network drive, uninstalling Livescribe Desktop and reinstalling it (80111 - How do I uninstall Livescribe Desktop for the Windows?). This will force the software to save the data folder to the local drive and will resolve this error.
